A ceramic coating does not correct paint defects on its own or prevent every scratch. Preparation, protection and maintenance are separate considerations.

What actually changes after treatment?
The aim is to make cleaning easier and help preserve the finish. Improvements to existing defects depend on paint preparation; they should not be attributed to the ceramic coating alone.
Does a ceramic coating prevent scratches or impact damage?
It does not make paint immune to scratches, impact damage or staining. Nor does it replace washing or aftercare. If you have another type of protection in mind, let us know when discussing your vehicle so we can consider a suitable solution.
Is protection worthwhile for a new vehicle?
It can help preserve the finish from the outset. We inspect the paint first: preparation is based on its actual condition, even on a newly delivered car.
Does every vehicle need polishing?
It should not be assumed. The need to improve the finish is assessed separately from protection. The condition of the paint and your desired result determine the appropriate preparation.
How long does the protection last?
Longevity depends on the coating chosen, how the vehicle is used and its maintenance. When assessing your car, we explain the expected durability and care requirements of the recommended option. An indicative lifespan is not a guarantee: any terms must relate to the specific product.
What determines the price of the treatment?
The preparation required, the size of the vehicle, the surfaces being treated and the coating chosen. Start by telling us the model, its condition and how you use it. Photographs can help guide the conversation, although an inspection may be needed to define the work.
How long does the treatment take?
Allow time for preparation, application and the coating’s initial curing period. When you enquire, tell us when you need to use your car again so we can take this into account when discussing the work and initial care.
Can the treatment be carried out at my home?
Yes, provided the available space and weather allow us to work in suitable conditions. We bring our private paddock to your home to create a sheltered, controlled workspace. It can remain in place for the days the treatment requires, subject to suitable conditions. We coordinate installation, timing and removal with you. If your home is not suitable, we can consider carrying out the work at another suitable location.
Can wheels, glass and the interior also be protected?
Yes. We assess these surfaces separately according to their materials. Tell us which ones you have in mind so the recommendation clearly defines the scope of protection.
How should I care for my vehicle afterwards?
We explain how to wash and care for your vehicle after treatment and keep a record of the services carried out by First Detail. If you prefer to leave that care to us, we can arrange ongoing maintenance.
